Maw's Mill
This is painted on pre-stretched
canvas, measuring 12"x16" and was
purchased, unframed for the mill's
current owner and restorer.

Sunset Mill Sillhouette
This painting was done on a piece of hardboard
with a timber support frame which was also
painted round. Before painting the wood had been
primed with two coats of gesso to give a good
surface on which to paint. It measures roughly
35"x25" in size, and has been mounted upon a
chimney breast. This painting was purchased
as a present in December 2008.
Orange-Vased Flowers
This bright, cheery work is painted on a piece
of hardboard which has been primed with gesso
and is 24"x24" in size. It is unframed or mounted,
and is in on display in the local hospital.

Self Portrait 2008
This painting is actually my first attempt
at a self-portrait. It measures a large
4'x2'8", is again done on hardboard
which has been given a gesso primed base.
It is unframed and unmounted.
Self Portrait with Straw Hat
After Vincent van Gogh
Painted on a pre-stretched canvas which is 16"x20"
in size, this was a very enjoyable and valuable
lesson, working along the lines of the old master.
It is both unframed and unmounted.

Starry Night
After Vincent van Gogh
As worked on above.
Painted on a pre-stretched canvas which is 16"x20"
in size, this was a very enjoyable exercise working
along the lines of the old master.
It is both unframed and unmounted.

"Poppy No1"
This short set of three works I undertook in
2008 as part of a project for one of our local
hospitals. They are big, bold and bright - just
the sort of thing to brighten up any dull, dark,
hospital corridor.

"Poppy No2"
"They are a lovely, calming, and relaxing sight";
a friend of mine told me as she passed by them
on here way to give birth to her second child.

"Poppy No3"
Each of these hardboard panels is 4'x2'8" in size,
and has a timber frame support which has also been
painted round. They have been given two coats of
gesso primer on which to give a good, sound base
from which to work on. With both coats being given
a loving sanding by mine own fair hand!
This is my interpretation of a beach scene by an
earlier Impressionist artist who's identity I cannot
recall. So, please note, that I am not claiming it as
one of my own works! It is roughly 10"x12" and is
done on hardboard which had been "primed" using
wallpaper paste. This had not dried fully when I
painted on it, so left a strange "crackling" effect
when it dried - almost distressed.
This work of mine is obviously inspired by one
of Monet's "Haystack" series of paintings.
This work is A3 in size, and is painted on canvas
textured paper, and, for me - uniquely given a
cardboard mount!

This work I call "Green Vase".
I quite like this bright and colourful
acrylic. The angular red back line really
sets it off. Actual picture size is 8"x12".
My Impressionistsic tendancy is developing!

This I have taken from a book of royalty
free images, which I have changed slightly
and done the colouring. Again it is placed in
a glass free frame purely to display it
better, but is in a card mount. This is done
using acrylics, gouache and acrylic ink on
canvass textured paper. Size is 8"x12".

I like this picture - it has something about it.
It's my version of an Impressionistic beach,
though this one I have done in slightly cooler tones
which makes it refreshing. The picture size is
8"x12", and is in a card mount. It is placed in a
glass free picture frame for photographing
purposes only.

This is the same as above - but obviously of a
warmer tone, which just shows how a work can
be changed with a little thought.
All of the details are as above - acrylic on
canvass textured paper.

As soon as I saw this subject - I thought it would
make a great work, and I think that it has.
The details are all as above. I hope that you
like it as much as I do.

We went to Mexico in 2007, and I took
plenty of photographs (as you do!) of some
of which I thought may make good subjects.
So here's one of them! Acrylic on canvass
textured paper, double card mounted.
Glass free frame just for photographing.
